About the Learning Program

Anthony Acres is a public charter school through the School District of Mondovi on a 34 acre wooded property on Hwy 37. Our school provides a place-based education through a project based learning structure to 6th through 12th graders. Students at Anthony Acres School enjoy a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) based curriculum with a focus on education outdoors. We are FREE and PUBLIC, because we believe every student deserves access to high-quality education. We are PLACE-BASED, because we believe students can learn to solve multidisciplinary problems, catalyze change, document history, and develop identity through the exploration of local environmental issues, social questions and civic engagement. We are PROJECT-BASED, because we believe students are motivated by a systematic process of inquiry which reflects complex, real-world tasks and allows for autonomy in learning and agency in demonstrating understanding. We have a STEAM focus, because we believe when disciplines are integrated throughout teaching and learning, students take thoughtful risks, are persistent, embrace collaborating, and engage fully in the creative process – keystones of the 21st century learner. We provide a student-centered curriculum which enables students to engage and be life ready. Students ENGAGE in hands-on authentic learning and self-discovery. We create learning experiences that inspire this exploration and future commitment. Students connect learning to the EXPLORATION of the natural environment and our region. We facilitate effective collaboration, investigation of civic responsibilities, and a focus on critical thinking. Students build EMPOWERMENT through engagement with and exploration of character and social responsibility.
