Autonomous schools

noun

Schools where the principal, or in the case of teacher-powered schools the educator team, make decisions at the school level as opposed to taking directives from a district central office, state, or other external entity. The term is often used to describe schools within a decentralized school district; pilot schools and schools in innovation zones can be examples of autonomous schools.
