About the Learning Program

The New School is the only school in Milwaukee Public Schools offering community-based learning internships as the core of the program. Over the last two decades they have built a powerful network of private businesses, community-based organizations, governmental units, and schools that serve as learning resource sites for our students. Internship sites offer learning placements in art, business, computer education, language arts, science, social studies and technical education. Credits earned in learning placements count toward a student’s graduation requirements. The New School also offers a menu of in-house classes taught by school staff, computer-based course offerings through E2020, and college credit through the Wisconsin Youth Options program.
