Denver Public Schools Exemplary Schools Case Study: Math and Science Leadership Academy (MSLA)

This study, conducted by the University of Colorado-Denver, identifies schoolwide practices at the Mathematics and Science Leadership Academy (MSLA) that have been successful in supporting the achievement of English Language Learners.

In Denver Public Sschools Exemplary Schools Case Study: Math and Science Leadership Academy, researchers used three sources of data: 1) photographs providing environmental scans of the language resources and supports for ELL students; 2) documents and public information (e.g., websites) as well as student performance data; and 3) interviews with school leaders, teachers, and other support personnel. This report details the practices uncovered at MSLA and identifies key components that contribute to the success of MSLA in working with English Language Learners.
