About the Learning Program

Academic rigor is a key component of Northern Waters. Students have daily opportunities to engage in rigorous learning experiences in all of the core subjects to prepare them for success in high school and beyond while being productive members of the greater community.

Northern Waters features a combination of student-directed and teacher-initiated projects. Students are engaged in real-world projects that make a difference in their community. At Northern Waters, experiences enhance student learning. Students apply their knowledge outside the four walls of the classroom through projects and learning experiences that explore Hayward’s community and natural environment.
